National Carbon Offset Standards launched
The Australian Government released the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) on 24 November 2009.
Download a copy of the National Carbon Offset Standards.
It comes into effect 1 July 2010 and will help set the standards for offsets in Australia. It is unclear at the moment how the rejection of the CPRS will affect Australian offsets.
It is pleasing that Gold Standard offsets are accepted — Beyond Neutral® sells these because they address the twin imperatives and are high quality (more information on Gold Standard).

A respected Canberra environmental consultant has been awarded the Certified Environmental Practitioner of the Year Award at the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand’s Annual Conference Gala Dinner.
The award was presented at the Hotel Realm in Canberra on Tuesday 20th October.

The film went on to win the Australian Directors’ Guild GRASS Award in recognition of its minimal environmental impact.
The Certified Environmental Practitioners Program Chairman, Nigel Murphy, said “in recognizing Mark’s achievements we thank him for his ongoing passion and commitment to the environment, and for facilitating awareness in another industry of how environmental sustainability and carbon footprint reduction can be achieved, hopefully creating an industry benchmark against which other film productions will be measured going forward”
