Presentations

We have presented a wide range of seminars and workshops on a variety of issues related in some way to climate change. A selection of these are included below:

  • Presentations to the committee members and AGM of the Southern Tablelands Farm Forestry Network on the options and requirements for carbon trading from farm forestry derived sequestration, accreditation issues and the science of climate change.
  • Presentation to the 2008 Irrigation Australia Conference and Exhibition held in Melbourne on soil carbon and its role and applicability in future emissions trading systems.
  • Presentation of a case study of major client’s greenhouse reporting for the 3rd Best Practice in Sustainability Reporting conference held in Melbourne.
  • Presentation plus facilitated a dinner discussion at the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology’s conference “Challenges and Opportunities for Agriculture, Forestry and NRM in a Carbon Trading Economy”, covering the options for municipal councils, regional development authorities and natural resource management groups.
  • Seminar presentation on Greenhouse to the “Greening of Business” course in the Masters of Environmental Management and Development program at the Australian National University, with the themes of strategic approach, measurement, literacy, stewardship and cooperating with communities.

Historically, the development, presentation and facilitation of workshops and seminars was undertaken for diverse groups such as:

  • engineers,
  • technical and production managers and staff,
  • environmental professionals,
  • land holders,
  • community groups, and
  • non government organisations, as well as
  • the general public.

Presentations included:

  • Organising and conducting over 30 workshops and seminars ranging from
    • one to two hour briefings and seminars for the general public, through to
    • full day workshops for key personnel such as engineers, general managers and Chief Executives.
    • These were conducted for major Greenhouse Challenge member corporations across many sectors including electricity generation, transmission and distribution, water supply, natural gas, renewable energy, and equipment manufacturing.
  • Presentations to non-government organisations (NGOs) such as Climate Action Network Australia on the interaction of carbon sinks, greenhouse accounting, climate change and the Kyoto Protocol.

  • Presentations to other NGOs including the Australian Institute of Energy, Australian Cogeneration Association, Sustainable Energy Industries Council of Australia, and the Latrobe Valley Task Force on inventories, abatement, indicators and reporting, and domestic and international responses to climate change including the Kyoto Protocol.

  • Participating in the CRC for Greenhouse Accounting’s presentation to the Australian Senate on the issue of greenhouse and carbon sinks.
